A technique of the house · Amsterdam

Body to body: the chapter the house is named for

This is the title chapter, and the initials describe it exactly: one body attending to another, with warm oil as the only intermediary. Her hands open the work, and then the broader surfaces take it over, forearm, torso, the weight of her laid along the weight of you, until pressure stops arriving at points and starts arriving in sentences. Of the five things we print, this is the one the house would keep if it could keep only one.

I.
Where it comes from

The lineage

Every tradition that ever ran out of hands arrived at the same conclusion: the practitioner has an entire body, and most of it presses better than a thumb. Kerala's oil rituals, Bangkok's bathhouses and Japan's gel rooms each institutionalised that discovery in their own idiom. The version this house prints is the European distillation, oil, bed, patience, with the theatrical packaging removed and the essential discovery kept intact.

How the hands work

The technique

The oil is warmed a few degrees past skin heat and applied thinly, since the aim is glide with traction rather than a flood. She works in long uninterrupted lines, steering pressure by shifting how much of her own weight rides on each stroke, more forearm for depth, more torso for breadth, and returning periodically to hand work when detail is called for. The tempo is set once, early, and defended for the rest of the hour.

III.
What to expect

In the room

She arrives with everything folded into one plain bag, dresses the bed in her own towels, and warms the oil while you settle. The opening minutes belong to her hands, establishing pace and pressure; after that the contact widens, and the hour proceeds as one continuous passage rather than a series of manoeuvres. Expect quiet, expect warmth, and expect the second half to feel shorter than the first, everyone reports the same distortion.

IV.
And who it does not

Who it suits

Choose this chapter if you want maximum contact with minimum apparatus: no sheet to lay, no gel to manage, nothing the room must provide beyond warmth. It also happens to be the forgiving option for compact hotel rooms and unreliable radiators, since oil holds its heat where thinner mediums lose it.

V.
Afterwards

What it leaves

The back and legs give up their bracing in a way that pointed pressure rarely achieves, and the mind follows the body down. Readers describe leaving the hour with the sensation of having been read attentively from beginning to end, held, warmed, and comprehensively unknotted.

Correspondence

Asked before booking

Answered the way the desk answers at 3am, briefly, and without ceremony.

What exactly do the initials b2b mean?

Body to body, massage given with the practitioner's whole person rather than her hands alone. The abbreviation began as trade shorthand and stuck because it is honest: the second body is not a garnish on the technique, it is the technique.

How does this chapter differ from the nuru one?

Medium, mostly. This work runs on warm oil, which skin slowly drinks, so the glide is renewed as the hour goes on; nuru runs on a seaweed gel that is never absorbed and needs a protected bed and a warmer room. Same principle, different ink.

Can it run through an entire night?

It can, and the tariff already anticipates it: eight hours at €1,250, booked as one block. Below that, the ladder reads €180 for the hour, €360 for two, €540 for three, with later hours added at the same €180.
